My four-year-old daughter and I were able to walk through a busy, already seated crowd waiting to listen to a Zydeco band and right up to the order counter. Normally, there is a line stretching outside and down the sidewalk to (shown above) Melo’s Pizzeria, but luckily the cold weather kept the crowd to a minimum. Yelp has it as the 11th most-reviewed and one of only four restaurants in St. Ok, truth is, my wife had to pick up some clothes from a swap-and-sell purchase off Sydney Street and, to my delight, suggested we grab lunch at Blues City Deli. Like a true politician, I’m going to respond by providing my opinion on a very popular, tried and true, beloved restaurant to show that I’m a man of the people. Cries of “Too soon!” and “Unfair!” were the common reactions – not surprising in this snowflake era. Ian used words like “underwhelming” and “unpleasant” which are apparently equivalent to Trump’s “grab them by the pussy” and “shithole” comments among other local snarky restaurant critics. The sandwich is a collaboration between the local fast food chain and James Beard award-winning chef, Gerard Craft. Louis Post-Dispatch, was roasted (tee-hee) for his critique of the newly-released Braised Brisket Sandwich at Lion’s Choice.
